Exploring the unseen through photography

On Show Now

What if Once was Now?

Fairy tales and nursery rhymes are some of the most influential pieces of western literature inspiring everything from Disney classics to video games. But what if these stories had been written today?

In "What if Once was Now" I use photography to take inspiration from these iconic tales but with a modern twist. Rather than fearing a shadow in the woods, what if Red Riding Hood faced a corporate wolf? Would the evil queen need a mirror when she has her phone to tell her Snow White is the fairest of all?

To create a physical connection between the images and the tales that inspired them each image is digitally printed onto a transfer film and placed onto a page from the original tale.

About us

Husband and wife team, Zachary Burns and Cathryn Hallett, both enjoy sharing unique perspectives on the world through photography. Cathryn’s work typically focuses on the small, overlooked moments of beauty in nature and daily life while Zachary’s focus is more on story telling through process. In recent work these interests have overlapped as they each bring their own unique perspective and skills to a finish piece.
